Accomplished author, academic, and dedicated horse racing historian, Jennifer Kelly has been immersed in the captivating world of Thoroughbred racing since childhood. Her profound passion for the sport is evident in her two published works: “Sir Barton and the Making of the Triple Crown” (2019, University Press of Kentucky) and “The Foxes of Belair: Gallant Fox, Omaha, and the Quest for the Triple Crown” (2023, University Press of Kentucky).
Through her quest to document the history of the Triple Crown series and the stories of its intrepid champions, Jennifer brings to life the most exciting moments in the history of this venerable sport. Her third book, tentatively titled A Crown Most Splendid: The Evolution of the American Triple Crown, will explore how the triad of the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes became the Triple Crown and forever changed the cultural and economic legacy of the sport.
A freelance turf writer, Jennifer regularly contributes to outlets such as America’s Best Racing, TwinSpires Edge, Trainer Magazine, BloodHorse, and more. Her work is inspired not only by Thoroughbred racing history, but by the current horses, people, and places that make the sport an enduring tradition around the world.
